Planned Giving: Secure the Future of National Ski Patrol

What is Planned Giving?

Planned giving is a long-term approach to philanthropy that allows you to make a meaningful impact on the National Ski Patrol, while also addressing your own financial and estate planning objectives. By making a planned gift, you are ensuring the future of our life-saving operations, educational programs, and community services for years to come.

Types of Planned Gifts

  • Bequests: One of the simplest ways to give, you can specify a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate in your will or trust.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities: Transfer assets to the National Ski Patrol in exchange for a tax deduction and a lifetime annuity.
  • Life Insurance Policies: Name the National Ski Patrol as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy and make a substantial contribution without affecting your income.

How to Get Started

  1. Consult Your Advisors: Meet with your financial planner, tax advisor, and legal counsel to review your options.
  2. Choose Your Gift: Decide which type of planned gift is most suitable for you.
  3. Notify Us: Let us know about your planned gift so that we can ensure your wishes are honored.
  4. Complete the Gift: Whether it's changing the beneficiary of an insurance policy or setting up a trust, take the steps necessary to complete your gift.

Benefits of Planned Giving

  • Tax Benefits: Planned gifts often come with significant tax advantages.
  • Lasting Impact: Ensure that future generations will continue to benefit from the vital services provided by the National Ski Patrol.
  • Personal Satisfaction: Knowing that you have made a difference can provide a sense of accomplishment and peace of mind.

Employer Match Donations

Many corporations participate in volunteer grant programs, matching volunteer time per hour with funds for an organization, or they may match all or part of your cash donation. Ask your employer if these matches are available to you.

Through a volunteer grant program, NSP can receive donations for volunteer work you are already doing as a volunteer patroller! If you make a one-time or recurring cash donation, ask if your employer will match it. Over half of Fortune 500 companies, and many other companies, have donation matching programs.

Honor a Patroller

Contributions to NSP in honor of deceased patroller helps honor that patroller's legacy and further NSP's impact. These memorial gifts can also inspire new patrollers to devote time and service to their local patrol and NSP.

The pledge form has a space to include information about a memorial gift. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.

Stock Donations

NSP can accept stock gifts for a minimum of $10,000 value.

If you would like to donate shares, please contact our finance department at [email protected].
