NSP BOARD APPROVES NEW MEMBERSHIP PATH FOR EMT, A-EMT, AND PARAMEDIC (05-17-18)

On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, the NSP board of directors passed language (see below) that will allow a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic to receive an OEC technician card.

  • If a current NSP member who is also a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic has a record of completion of the last three refreshers (2015, 2016, 2017) in the database, he/she will receive an OEC technician card by June 30, 2018.
  • If a current NSP member who is also a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic has completed the last three refreshers (2015, 2016, 2017) by June 30, 2018, but those records are not in NSP’s database, the Instructor or PR/PD should email education@nsp.org with the patroller’s name, member ID, and course completion dates by June 30, 2018. Staff will enter these courses into the database and then the member will receive an OEC technician card.
  • If a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic is not a current NSP member but has completed the last three refreshers (2015, 2016, 2017) by June 30, 2018, the Instructor or PR/PD should email education@nsp.org with the patroller’s name, member ID, and course completion dates by June 30, 2018. To receive an OEC technician card these individuals must pay NSP membership dues by June 30, 2018.
  • If a current patroller or new candidate who is also a current EMT, advanced EMT, or paramedic has not completed the last three refreshers (2015, 2016, 2017) by June 30, 2018, he/she may receive an OEC technician card by passing the Modified Challenge course, which is comprised of the practical portion of the OEC exam and will be available starting in the fall of 2018.
