2008 OEC REFRESHER CYCLE A INFO (8.20.08)
- The 2008 OEC Cycle A Refresher Study Guide is available for download at right. It will also be inserted and mailed in the next issue of Ski Patrol Magazine, due out the week of Sept. 2. (We apologize for the inconvenience for those patrols hosting early Refreshers.)
- The 2008 Instructor's Guide was mailed in mid-July. For a PDF of the guide e-mail Carol Hudson at chudson@nsp.org.

SAVE THE DATE! NSP EDUCATION & LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE APRIL 14-17, 2009 (8.19.08)
NSP's signature annual patroller education conference, formerly known as Powderfall, will return to Snowbird, Utah, from April 14-17, 2009. This will be a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the NSP membership and leadership to come together, explore ideas, enhance leadership skills, make new friends, ski incredible terrain, and help take part in shaping our organization. The program will benefit all categories of paid and volunteer members. More details to follow SOON.
NSP MEMBERS INVITED TO ATTEND PATROL LEADERSHIP SESSIONS AT MAINE AND NEW YORK SKI INDUSTRY TRADE SHOWS (8.19.08)
The Northeast Winter Sports Summit and the NSP have announced an expanded NSP track for 2008! The Summit takes place at the Mt. Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H., from Sept. 2-4. A three-part series on Sept. 4 will explore topics critical to the success of the NSP. As part of the series, NSP Executive Director Tim White will moderate a round table discussion for NSP members. In a separate session, Sugarbush, Vt., PD John Hammond and patroller Dave Esty will present a two-part program, "Lessons Learned in Leadership; How you can be a More Effective Leader," pulling from leadership skills honed through ski patrolling. All NSP members are invited to attend the Summit, which also includes the NSAA Fall Education Seminars. The sessions will also be presented at the Ski Areas of New York conference at Holiday Valley, N.Y., on Sept. 8-9. STAFF CHANGES AT NSP NATIONAL OFFICE ANNOUNCED (8.11.08)
In an effort to further improve efficiency at its national office, the National Ski Patrol has restructured several key staff positions and added two full-time staff members. Details here.
FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE TO ALL 50+-YEAR NSP MEMBERS (7.14.08)
At its Annual Meeting in June the NSP Board unanimously approved free Lifetime Memberships to all members with 50 or more years of service. Read more here.
NSP BOARD APPROVES MEMBER DUES INCREASE (7.9.08)
The NSP Board has approved a member dues increase for only the second time in 19 years. The increase will benefit NSP educational programming, support the reorganization of the association after its split with PSIA/AASI, and address inflation and the rising cost of doing business. A FAQ sheet on the dues restructuring is available here. As a result of questions we've received, additional information regarding the dues increase in relation to the national office software upgrade can be found here.
FIVE-YEAR NSP "ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN" FUNDRAISER ANNOUNCED (7.3.08)
The NSP Fundraising Committee has announced the five-year Anniversary Campaign, the first official fundraiser in NSP history. The goal is to raise $1 million by the organization's 75th Anniversary in 2013. Details and how to donate here.
70TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION HONORS NSP'S RICH HISTORY (6.25.08)
NSP members, friends, Board and staff celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the organization at a special evening in Lakewood, Colo., on June 20. More than 100 gathered for the celebration that included guest speakers, a silent auction, and special recognition for some of the organization's brightest contributors. Read more here. NSP BOARD APPROVES RESTRUCTURING OF PRO DIVISION MEMBER DUES (5.14.08)
The NSP Board and Pro Division leadership have voted to restructure Pro Division member dues over the course of the next two fiscal years. Log in for more info or contact the NSP accounting department with questions about how the change might affect your patrol.
